Catch up: Many Changes & New Adventures

It’s been a while since I’ve last written (six months to be exact)! Life has been a whirlwind, to say the least. In early August, we held our breaths and took the big leap from Hawaii to a new place to call home.

“A Hui Hou Kākou, Hawaii…”

A family hike up on the Hanauma Bay Ridge. A Hui Hou Kākou, Hawaii.

Our new home has had it’s own obstacles, starting with the fact that we aren’t even living in our home yet. Having all of our family around again after over three years of (a big sense of) isolation has been both refreshing and a bit overwhelming. None the less, my girls have been troopers and have taken all of the change extremely well. In fact, I’d venture to say that am the one coping the least with all of the change!

There are so many differences that come with living somewhere so different. One of them being the environment in which surrounds us every day. We have seasons now, for one! We are currently living through the dead of winter, and although we miss our sleepy, sunny days spent floating upon the crystal-blue lagoons, it has been a lot of fun romping around in the refreshing, cold wetness of the freshly-fallen snow.

December 2017: Our first snowfall was spent in the forest!

My oldest daughter has fallen in such love with her surroundings that we decided to enroll her in a local forest school. She will be starting her first day next week, and I will be sure to post about that experience!

As for me; I have been volunteering at a local Waldorf school in preparation for my teacher training starting this summer, and my eventual degree studies in Early Childhood Education. It’s been a blessing to be able to initiate pursuing my passions, especially after so many years of thinking I would never know what those passions even were.

We’ve started the process of potty training with my youngest daughter after some time of showing me how interested she really is; in fact, she loves to use the potty without anyone knowing, before running over to us to announce her accomplishment! The sense of pride she takes in her endeavors (whatever they may be) never fails to put a smile on my face.

My next few posts, besides our forest school post, will likely be reminiscing on a few of our favorite nature-related adventures or experiences we’ve had while living in our new home state.

We invite you to follow us! Check back soon!
