An Introduction

Whether it be our naturally made toy collection, cloth diapers or our hours spent playing in the mud, our family is far from “mainstream”.

My young daughters, Skyla – age three and Willow – age almost-two, hardly ever use electronics. They aren’t aware of many cartoon characters on TV. Their toys are made only from mainly wood or fabric (in this case, meaning no plastic or electronics), and they don’t have many of them. Yet, they spend hours upon hours playing with what they do have. You’ll find out why in a later post!

We love all kinds of art: watercolors, nature art, home-made play-dough, coloring with beeswax crayons… the list is almost endless!

We also treasure music. Music frequently filled my house in a play-based manner while I was young, and it helped me to appreciate it while growing up. I’ve always wanted the same for my children! Venturing out to some local shops here in beautiful Hawaii is part of the norm for us, as we carefully select hand-made instruments.

My blog series will highlight simply a day in the life of us. Whether it’s about a day of play or a new recipe, or you’re leisurely reading or have an interest in adopting certain ideas, read away!

PS: I’m extremely new to blogging, so please hang in with me as I learn!
